ENSEMBLE
The Nino Rota Ensemble was founded in Italy in 1994 and consists of six female
Italian musicians (voice, flute, violin, viola, cello and piano), united in
their passion for music and cinema. Since their establishment, the group, known
and appreciated in Europe and abroad, has performed at the most prestigious
theatres in Sweden (Stockholm and Vaesteros), Portugal (Lisbon and Coimbra),
Egypt (Il Cairo and Alexandria), France (Annecy and Lille), Germany (Munich),
Croatia (Zagreb and Split), Taiwan (Taipei and other ten cities), Brazil (San
Paulo, Belo Horizonte, Juiz de Fora and Rio de Janeiro), Turkey (Ankara,
Istanbul, Izmir), Azerbaijan (Baku), Greece (Salonicco, Patrasso, Rhodi),
Morocco Cartago (Tunis), Morocco (Casablanca), Cyprus (Limassol, Nicosia, Pathos,
Bellapais), Lebanon, Libya and Syria (Beirut, Tripoli and Damascus), Luxembourg
(Luxembourg), Latvia (Riga) and in the most important Italian theatres.
The
musicians have won national and international competitions, attended specialised
courses and seminars held by the most celebrated international musicians and
composers, and are appreciated as soloists in diverse formations, regularly
collaborating with the best Italian orchestras. As the Nino Rota Ensemble, the
group present a particular repertoire comprised of compositions by famous
Italian and foreign composers such as Nino Rota, Ennio Morricone, Stelvio
Cipriani, Riz Ortolani, Nicola Piovani, George Gershwin, Leonard Bernstein, Max
Steiner and others. On the occasion of the centenary of the death of Giuseppe
Verdi (2001), they performed at the Municipal Theatre in S.Paulo (Brazil),
representing Italy, in collaboration with the most famous Italian opera singers,
as Cecilia Gasdia, Pietro Ballo, Giorgio Merighi and Fiorenza Cossotto. Their
performances have been broadcasted by Portuguese National Television and Lisbon
Radio, the National Television of San Paulo, RAI, Vatican Radio and by national
and private TVs. The recent compact disc recording of their repertoire in
programme is enjoying great success around the world.
