TANGO DEL MEDITERRANEO

Orguesta El Mediterraneo was founded in July 2003. The group consists of 10 musicians with 4 violins, akordeon, flute, guitar, piano, contrabass and vocals. The Group was invited by El Encuentro School of Tango and performed for the first time in Istanbul in March 2004. In June 2004 has received invitation from International Istanbul Tango Festival and performed twice within this festival. The “Tango Mediterraneo” show which was prepared with the participation of three dancing couples has attracted great attention from the audience in the 1st International Cyprus Tango Festival on 1-2 March 2006. The same group was invited for a performance in Dubai in June 2006.

The Orchestra will be performing in the 3rd International Istanbul Tango Festival in June 2006. After this performance the Group will be performing in our Festival. The orchestra will be presenting 20 tango pieces and 11 of these pieces will be presenting with tango dance shows. The show consists of two parts. In the first part, traditional and authentic tango pieces will be presented. And in the second part, we will hear mostly of composer Astor Piazolla’s work who is one of the innovators of Tango Neuvo trend. The two pieces were composed by the group chef (conductor) Mustafa Elmas.
