NOHR QUARTET

Program

This edition is a string Nohr Quartet. The ensemble which name sounds unfamiliar to you was created by talented original musicians Svetlana Nohr (1st violin) and Vladimir Nohr (violoncello).

They studied at the Gnesins Russian Musical Academy mastering quartet playing with professor V.A. Berlinsky, permanent violoncellist of the famous Borodin Quartet. He gave the Nohrs quartet and created wonderful relations between the ensemble participants, full of love, joyful communication, mutual understanding and veneration for the gift of God in every man.

The Nohr Quartet style is distinguished by delicate lyricism, poetical sense, simplicity and honesty of expressions. The quartet players see the sense of creative work to be in the ongoing search for compliance with style and spirit of the composition being played. Listen to this “talk of four sensible persons” (R.Rollan), to their intonations, to how delicately and lovingly they reveal to the audience mysteries of charming music and you will feel the author became your friend and music lighted and warmed your life like everything truly beautiful.

In the conclusion we would like to sat that the 2nd violin in the Nohr Quartet is played by Marina Uvarova and the viola part is performed by Alexandre Riader, graduates of the Moscow State Conservatoire named after Tchaikovsky with quartet class of professor D.V. Shebolin who devoted all his life to the glorious Borodin Quartet. Thus we can truly say that the Nohr Quartet is developing musical traditions of its great Teachers.
