MONICA MOLINA
The process of an actress making the jump from the screen to the recording studio and vice versa is often one of perverse special effects. Monica Molina, however, beginning her career as singer before she was an actress has had the unique ability to excel in both fields. Her music, brilliant and full of palpable emotions, is independent - artistically, compositionally; and vocally - of the mythical career father Antonio Molina. Nevertheless, there are welcome similarities; with pride Monica has assumed, along with her brother Noel, who composed the majority of the songs on the album, this artistic legacy.
Monica Molina is completely in possession of a uniquely colourful vocal style: It's full of passion but never shrill, rootsy but never unfocused, dramatic but never histrionic, rich without resorting to cheap effects. She has a voice that moves beyond fashion's uses and abuses, one that departs from clarity, simplicity and achieves art's noble objective: She has the ability to summon up emotions within the listener. The twelve songs which make up her latest album, Vuela, allow the listener to appreciate the different shades of colour and the of Monica's voice. With this album Monica takes us on musical journey passing through the various rhythms of the Mediterranean and beyond. A musical journey which provides us with a new perspective on how to understand life and what surrounds us. This is, above all, a Mediterranean album. And as we listen and we soar above this Mediterranean we are going to encounter its musical echoes, its rhythms and even it's fusion which 'in the case of Monica Molina appear in the most natural way possible, unforced and fitting perfectly with her style and her rich and personable voice. Paco Ortega y Noel Molina are those responsible for the production of the album, the same team which worked on Monica's first album which reached Gold status and brought Monica to the forefront of the Spanish musical scene. She will have some French songs in her French edition of Vuela. Monica Molina is nominated for Latin Grammy Awards in Best Female Singer Category 2002. She released her 3 rd album “de cal y arena” in fall 2003. FILMOGRAFI:
